Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
It's OK.
It's not horrible. It's not great. I honestly don't even think it's "good". But it's OK. If anything, it's way too long. There's not enough depth here to warrant the over 2 hour run time for sure.
This seems to want to be three different movies. It wants to be long and epic, but it's just long. It never gets boring, but you leave the movie with a sense that things could have been wrapped up much more quickly.
The standout performance in my mind was handed in by Kristen Wiig. She infuses noticeably more depth and humanity into her character than anyone else on screen. Everyone else delivers the best performance they can given the source material.
The first 15 minutes are fairly hokey, so much so that I almost stopped watching. In the end though, I'm glad I kept watching through to the end. As a streaming title, it gets the job done, but I would have felt bad about my purchase if I had payed the full movie theater price.
In no way is this movie remotely good enough to risk catching COVID in a theater. Not by a long shot.
